Volunteer Litter Picking
Whether you are a resident, community group, business, school or individual, we want you to take part.
If you are a community group, school, business or with family and friends, we want you to get involved in some way to make a difference.
As part of our ‘This is My Doncaster’ campaign, we help facilitate this by loaning litter picking equipment out (if required), and arranging the collection bagged waste.
We’ve got loads of tips and advice to help you get started (below) and cleaning up safely, so whether you’re a litter-picking pro, or this is your first time, pledge to pick up a bag (or more), today.
Our campaign in the fight against litter, fly-tipping and environmental crime continues; and street scene teams are planning some more action weeks very soon. The purpose of these is to target hotspot areas; and encourage communities to get involved in cleaning up their neighbourhoods and taking pride in their area. The council doesn’t have the massive financial resources needed to keep everywhere spotless. It already costs us £500,000 each year to pick up dumped rubbish and dropped litter.
The only way we are going to make a positive impact to protect the environment is by working together with local people.
Did you know?
During the 2023 campaign, litter pickers carried out over 70 litter pick events across Doncaster.
More than 1,500 bags of litter were collected.
