There are some simple and easy switches to make to products we use everyday that will help the environment. A quick Google search will provide you with access to all of the items listed below. You do not need to implement every single swap listed below, whether you make one change, ten changes or every suggested change, you will still be helping the environment.
Household
- Reusable straws
- Beeswax wraps instead of cling film
- Reusable cloths/napkins instead of kitchen roll
- Biodegradable kitchen sponges
- Reusable freezer bags
- Recyclable/biodegradable bin bags
- Plastic free laundry detergent- eg, eco egg, laundry detergent sheets
- Refillable cleaning supplies- eg, washing up liquid, surface cleaner
- Reusable silicon cupcake cases instead of disposable ones
- Reusable silicon baking sheets instead of parchment paper
Personal hygiene
- Reusable makeup removing cloths

Parenting/Caring
One of the biggest things you can do as a parent/guardian is educate your child in an age-appropriate manner on climate change and display positive eco-friendly behaviour to them. If you make some of the swaps on this page, your child will follow your lead and it will become normal behaviour for them. For example, recycling is now a normal everyday behaviour for all of us as it has been ingrained in most of our lives since childhood.

- Wrap gifts in cloth instead of wrapping paper
- Avoid using disposable plates/cutlery/pans
- Consider where you hold the celebration- think about how easily accessible the place is by public transport to encourage people to use it

- Purchasing from brands clear about their sustainability practices
- Purchase second-hand where possible
- Try to buy high quality products so they last longer
- Shop local
- Beware of green washing- Just because a brand says they are eco-friendly they might not be. Ensure you do research on the brand and see how eco-friendly they are. For example, look what materials they use, look where they are based to see what the transport miles to you will be like, consider the packaging their products are sent in, look into whether they support environmental/climate projects such as planting a tree for every order
